Who Needs Dealt Rakeback

Dealt Rakeback is one of the most highly sought after Rakeback deals in the online poker community. The reason for this is that players do not even need to contribute to a pot to receive an online poker Rakeback – so long as you were dealt cards in the hand, you receive an even portion of the rake.

Even though Dealt Rakeback sounds wonderful, not all online poker players would benefit the most from a Dealt Rakeback deal. For example, if you prefer to play a relatively loose poker game with an aggressive betting style, you’d actually prosper more from a Contributed Rakeback deal.

Players who need Dealt Rakeback are those who play a very tight poker game with strict starting hand selection. These players are the ones who Fold about 90% of the time, only contributing to the pot if they are in a Blind position, or have a premium Starting Hand.

If you are a tight poker player who fits this profile, yes – you need Dealt Rakeback!

The only real drawback of a Dealt Rakeback offer is that the overall rake must be divvied up between all players who are dealt cards, not just contributors. It’s a double-edged sword really, because many of these opponents are not even getting an online poker Rakeback, but still cause the rake to be divided, resulting in a smaller overall Rakeback per hand. Then again, the more players seated at the table, the less often you will be required post Blinds.

However, if you are playing a very tight poker game, the hands you do move on with should be netting you some nice profits. The Dealt Rakeback will simply boost those profits for you. Even if you average a break-even poker game at the end of a typical day, Dealt Rakeback will change the even flow to a prosperous evening on the virtual felt.

To show how Dealt Rakeback is more advantageous for tight poker players than a Contributed Rakeback deal would be, we’ll give you an example of a typical hand. For this example, we’ll use $2/$4 NL Hold’em with 6 players at the table.

We’ll place you in seat 1, Under the Gun (first to act after the Big Blind). The Hole Cards are dealt…

Seat 1: You – Fold
Seat 2: Bet $6
Seat 3: Fold
Seat 4: Button – Call $6
Seat 5: SB $2 – Fold
Seat 6: BB $4 – Call, add $2

The pot totals $20, and the Flop comes down…

Seat 1: You – [Out]
Seat 2: Bet $20
Seat 3: [Out]
Seat 4: Button – Call $20
Seat 5: SB – [Out]
Seat 6: BB – Fold

The pot is now $60, the Turn is dealt…

Seat 1: You – [Out]
Seat 2: Bet $20
Seat 3: [Out]
Seat 4: Button – Fold
Seat 5: SB – [Out]
Seat 6: BB – [Out]

The hand ends with Seat 2 winning the pot. However, since last $20 bet was not called by anyone, the pot should not be recalculated; therefore the final $20 bet does not go towards the rake. The raked pot ended at $60.

The average rake is 5%, so we can calculate the rake as 5% of $60 = $3. Now we divide the $3 rake by the total players dealt in the hand. $3 / 6 = $0.50.

Your Rakeback would be based on this $0.50 median of contributions to the pot, even though you placed no money into it. The average online poker Rakeback deal is worth 30%, so we need to find 30% of $0.50.

0.50 x 0.30 = $0.15

Without putting a single penny into the pot, you would receive a Dealt Rakeback of $0.15 for this hand. Were you taking advantage of a Contributed Rakeback deal, you would have received absolutely nothing.

To further the example, let’s say you were in Seat 5, the SB position. This player contributed $2 (the Small Blind amount) to the pot. According to the basic rules of a 30% Contributed Rakeback deal, we would find that you contributed only 3.33% of the rake. 3.33% of $3 is .0999, rounded up to $0.10 – your contribution to the rake. Since you only get 30% of that Contributed Rake, you would walk away with $0.03 for the hand.

Obviously, as a tight poker player, whether you’re in Blind position or not, a Dealt Rakeback strategy is way more profitable than any online poker Rakeback.
